Provided we have received a fully completed order, including payment and necessary information, and you have selected the speediest queue, our team will examine your order, register it through Alberta Registry system, and send you the electronic documents via email within one business hour. The last submission time is 3:00 PM local time.
  • What documents I will get?
    You will receive final business registration statement with business registration number (BIN). Afterwards, other services such as GST/HST account, CRA business number etc. will be emailed.

  • Why need Business Number?
    Canadian business must obtain a Business Number (MANDATORY) to have the access on Canada Revenue Agency account. Business Number is also known as RC number (RC0001). This is the unique identification of your business with CRA. A Business Number is often required to to make any business contract, setting up an payment processing account, google business account, trade name application, Amazon account, annual corporate filing etc.
  • What is WCB?
    This refers to the Workers' Compensation Board. Should your business intend to employ staff either presently or later, registration with the WCB is non-negotiable. After registering, we supply your account number and connect you with the WCB authority. Be aware, however, that monthly premium fees are not applicable. Instead, the WCB authority will provide guidance regarding your qualification for a free program or potential fees.

  • What is Registration Queue?
    Ontario sole proprietorship can be ready in 2 business hours in the fastest queue. If we receive a complete order (payment and required information are complete) and you have chosen 2 business hours queue, our team will review your order, register it with Service Ontario and provide you the electronic documents in email in 2 business hours. Our cut off time is 3:00 PM local time.
  • Why printed copy costs more?
    Once we register, the Government sends us the electronic documents in email. Hence, we can send you the electronic documents without any additional cost. Sending it by postal service involves additional services such as printing, handling and shipping.

  • What is business activity type?
    A business can sell to its customer services or goods or both. Services examples are professional and technical services, consultancy, recreation, arts and entertainment, social assistance etc.
  • What is NUANS report?
    For a named corporation, a valid NUANS report is required. You have option to upload if you already have it, or can ask us to obtain it for you. If you upload, please ensure it's an Alberta NUANS report (not a federal one). Click here to see the sample of NUANS Report.
  • Business Address

  • To register a business in this province, a local provincial physical address is required where the government will send documents. If you do not have a physical address in this province, our agency provides address and mail scanning service.
  • Guidelines

  • Can I change email address later?
    Yes, you can. If you do not have an official business email address yet, you can use a Gmail or Hotmail address here. Once your business is registered and you have an official domain name and email address, you can update this through our website.
  • What is principal place of business?
    It is the location where business is located. It can be a commercial rented place or home address. It can't be a P.O Box, must be a physical address. CRA documents will go to this address.
  • Can I change principal place of business later?
    Yes, it can be changed later. In many cases when commercial place is not rented yet, residential address is given. Once you rent a commercial place, you can update the address through our website.
  • Do you provide address service?
    If you do not have a local provincial address, we provide registered address and mail scanning service. Please click, on the form where says, "If you don't have address in this province, click here"
  • Is the address service renewable?
    Yes, you have the choice to renew it on an annual basis. Normally, the price remains same.

  • Who can be an owner?
    Anyone (no age restrictions) can register a Sole Proprietorship. However, opening a bank account for the business or signing any legal contract for the transactions of the business may require a minimum age. Currently there is no citizenship or residency requirement to register a sole proprietorship in Ontario
  • Owner must be a natural person

  • Every Alberta business must appoint an Agent for Service who must reside in Alberta. This individual would be the primary point of all communications from the government. If you don't have a valid 'Agent' in Alberta, you may obtain our 'Agent for Service'.

  • Can I change the agent later?
    Yes. You can change the Agent for Service any time. We offer such service through our website.
  • Can I upload a non-Alberta photo ID?
    No. The "Agent for Service" must be an Alberta resident and the Alberta valid photo ID serves the verification purpose by the government.
  • Is the agent service is renewable if I obtain from you?
    Yes, every year when you file annual return for your corporation, you can renew this service. Normally the prices does not change.

  • What is business number?
    Every business in Canada must have a business number from CRA. This is the identification of your corporation with Canada Revenue Agency.
  • Who needs a GST/HST account?
    If you sell products and services in Canada and collect GST/HST from your Customers, then GST/HST Account Number is Required. Customer's invoice or receipt must show the HST number. Unable to collect HST may cause penalty by CRA.
  • What is payroll account?
    If you hire Employees including yourself, then you need a Payroll Account Number. If you do not have an employee, your own salary or a family member's salary can be processed through the payroll account to take advantage of CRA 'income splitting'. Please note, this is not a payroll service, rather the initial set up of a payroll account with CRA.
  • What is import account?
    If your business involves importing physical goods, it is required. The government uses this account to process the customs clearance.
  • What is export account?
    If your business involves exporting physical goods, it is required. The government uses this account to process the customs clearance.

  • Do I need WCB registration?
    Registering with Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) is required for most businesses in Alberta within 10 days of hiring their first employee. Some types of businesses are exempted from mandatory registration with WSIB based on the activities (Examples are banks, insurance companies, hair salons (with exceptions), private schools or daycares, travel agencies, etc.) but many employers in these industries choose to register with the WCB anyways for protection to their workers. WCB registration is more important for small businesses and start-ups to provide financial security in the event of a workplace accident.
