WorkplaceNL is Newfoundland & Labrador’s employer-funded, no-fault insurer operating under the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Act. It provides:
- Medical and wage-loss benefits for injured workers
- Long-term disability, rehabilitation, and survivor benefits
- Legal protection for employers – employees covered by WorkplaceNL cannot sue their employers over work-related injuries. You must register if you are a business, employing three or more workers – including part-time, casual staff, seasonal or subcontractors – must register within 10 days of reaching this threshold; Employers with fewer than three workers may voluntarily register, especially when hiring multiple independent contractors.
