  1. The company name should include a distinctive element (example: โ€œMapleLeafโ€) and descriptive element (example: โ€œConsultingโ€).
  2. The company name should include the legal ending: โ€œLimitedโ€,ย  “Ltd.”, “Incorporated”, “Inc.”, “Corporation”, or “Corp.” Example: โ€œMapleLeaf Consulting Inc.โ€
  3. Your company name should be unique in the province of Manitoba, not similar to any other existing company names and trademarks, and should not be misleading.ย 
  4. Words like โ€œUniversity,โ€ โ€œBank,โ€ or โ€œTrustโ€ require special approval.
  5. The name cannot begin with โ€œManitobaโ€ or โ€œMBโ€, suggest government or Crown affiliation, include offensive language or mislead about the nature of the business;ย 
  6. If you want to use your personal name, a written consent form is required.ย 
  7. The name approval usually takes 5 to 9 days.ย 
  8. Once approved, your name is reserved for 90 days. If not used within that period, it must be re-reserved.
